Week 6 – Carolina Panthers at Washington Redskins

The Panthers are the true wild card of the NFC South. They have the talent to win the South, but also have the potential to internally destruct. The season hinges on one man, Cam Newton. According to Panthers reporter David Newton, Cam Newton is on the hot seat this coming season.

Despite this, Carolina has a good roster and will be a tough opponent for the Redskins in Week 6. Christian McCaffrey is developing nicely, the addition of C.J. Anderson will prove to be one of their best offseason moves, and acquiring Torrey Smith will help Devin Funchess on the outside.

In my opinion, the biggest addition for the Panthers was new offensive coordinator Norv Turner. He’s the perfect coach to help elevate Newton and the offense to where it needs to be helped. I fully expect the Panthers to be more explosive this season.

However, they won’t be explosive against the Redskins. Washington will be coming off a two-game losing streak and will need this win to stay afloat. With two division games on the horizon, the Redskins will have no choice but to win this one.

Look for the Redskins’ defense to have their best performance of the year thus far. Norman will wreak havoc on his former team, getting one interception and a couple pass deflections. The pass rush will be able to contain Newton and force him to make some tough decisions, causing some crucial turnovers for the Panthers.

Dustin Hopkins will be kept busy in this one. The Redskins win in an ugly one.

Final Score: WAS 16, CAR 13

Record: 3-2
