The NFL Supplemental draft is in a couple of days. Armed with a boatload of picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins could be a player in the supplemental draft.

For those that don’t know, the supplemental draft takes place every year in the months after the NFL Draft. In this iteration of the draft, players who have circumstances that are preventing them from playing in college are able to file as late entries to the NFL, where teams get a chance to select them by forfeiting picks from the next year’s draft class. This is done by making a bid to the league office, and the draft order is determined by a specific system that our sister site NFL Mocks outlined recently. Usually, players are selected very late in the supplemental draft, if at all.

One of the most notable supplemental draft picks was Josh Gordon, as the dynamic receiver was taken by the Cleveland Browns in Round 2 after being dismissed by Baylor. That selection came in 2012, and only one player has been selected since then.

That said, the 2018 Supplemental Draft has more talent in it than normal. Because of this, the Washington Redskins, who are armed with many 2019 picks thanks to the compensatory selections they are due to receive, could end up being players. And if they are, they will have a chance to land some quality prospects.

One of the best available players in this year’s supplemental draft is Sam Beal. The Western Michigan product could end up being highly coveted among NFL teams, so the Redskins have to do their due diligence on him. Here’s a look at what Beal might provide the Redskins.
