Terrelle Pryor leaving Redskins to join the New York Jets
Terrelle Pryor was a bust in his lone season with the Washington Redskins. Now, he will be joining the New York Jets.
It was always unlikely that Terrelle Pryor wasn’t going to return to the Washington Redskins after the 2017 season. The minute he landed on Injured Reserve, his fate was sealed. In his one season in Washington, Pryor wasn’t effective and was virtually benched at the end of his run by Jay Gruden. Pryor finished his underwhelming Redskins career with just 20 catches for 240 yards and a single score.
However, there is still definitely hope that Pryor could bounce back in the right system. After all, he posted a 1,000-yard season in 2016 with Cleveland, and he has the 6-foot-6 frame and athletic ability to be a No. 1 receiver. He just didn’t fit with the Redskins offense, and it’s also possible that a nagging injury could have made him less productive.
Pryor took a couple of reported free agent visits to the Seahawks and the Jets, but he is reportedly closing in on a deal with the latter team, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. So, Pryor’s days in D.C. are officially over.

As I said in a recent piece when Pryor’s visit was first reported, Pryor will be a good fit with the Jets.
"The fit in New York could be a good one for Pryor. Armed with ample cap space, the Jets have more than enough money to throw a deal at Pryor. They could offer him a similar one-year deal to what the Redskins gave him last year, and Pryor would likely jump at the chance to have that type of deal. With the Jets, Pryor would have a chance to win the No. 1 job at receiver. The team has a bunch of solid No. 2 guys like Jermaine Kearse, Quincy Enunwa, and Robby Anderson. But none profiles as a No. 1 guy. Pryor has the size and athleticism to be a potential game-changer with the Jets and he would provide the team’s quarterback, whether that’s Josh McCown, Teddy Bridgewater, or a new guy in the 2018 NFL Draft, a nice, big target."
Pryor immediately is the No. 1 option in New York, provided that he can stay healthy. And it’s unlikely that the Jets invested heavily in Pryor, given the lukewarm interest in him and the fact that he only has one season of high-level production at receiver in the NFL. Even if they did give him a slight overpay, they have enough cap space that it won’t be an issue.

For the Redskins, the departure of Pryor is inconsequential. He didn’t pan out and the squad brought in Paul Richardson to replace him. Thus, letting Pryor go was absolutely the right move, and they well could be better off without him.
