NFL Mock Draft 7.0: Round 1 of the 2018 NFL Draft
By Ian Cummings
Opposite Ronnie Stanley, the Baltimore Ravens need a bookend blocker to keep the line from being folded. Notre Dame’s Mike McGlinchey is a suitable option in this regard.
McGlinchey, like Connor Williams, is a superb athlete, but where Williams is lacking in length, McGlincehy has it. McGlinchey, an All-American in 2017, has perfect size for the tackle position, and he moves well for being that tall. Here’s what I had to say about McGlinchey in a previous mock draft:
"McGlinchey is a behemoth on the edge, standing at 6-foot-8, 315. He’s surprisingly athletic, and right off the snap, he keeps his balance and moves his feet well. His team’s lack of offensive success in 2017 may cause McGlinchey to be overlooked in favor of other tackle prospects, but McGlinchey was solid week in and week out."
With McGlinchey, the Ravens could be flexible. McGlinchey has starting experience at both left and right tackle, and so he could fill in as the starter at left tackle when needed. He’s a solid player who will likely start right away, and the Ravens’ offensive line will benefit because of it.
