Redskins: 3 edge rushers to target on the free agent market in 2018
Edge rusher may not look like a huge need on paper for the Washington Redskins. But, they could use some extra depth at the position if they lose a couple of key free agents.
For the past couple of seasons, the Washington Redskins have gotten some excellent play out of their edge rushers. Ryan Kerrigan has perennially been one of the most underrated players at his position and across from him, the Redskins have found some quality options.
The triage of Preston Smith, Junior Galette, and Trent Murphy has combined for 24.5 sacks over the past two seasons. Coupling that with the 24 sacks Kerrigan has produced, and the team has a really strong edge rush, because of their versatility and ability to rotate talent in and out.
However, with Murphy and Galette set to hit the market, the team could stand to lose half of the production from the No. 2 rusher spot, so they will have to add depth to avoid losing that production. If they look on the free agent market for potential pieces, these will likely be their top three options.
