The final game of the season is here. Comment on all the action in the Washington Redskins battle with the New York Giants here!

The 2017 season won’t exactly be remembered fondly by the Redskins and their fan base. After a promising start to the year particularly on the defensive side of the ball, the team was absolutely devastated by injuries that completely derailed their chances for success. They ended up with a 5-8 record after Week 14, but they now have a chance to bring that up to .500 by the end of the season.

Of course, there are a lot of factors that can be blamed for the Redskins average season. The first is obviously the injuries. A less talked about one would be the extraordinarily tough schedule that the Redskins faced early in the season, taking on the Eagles, Rams, Raiders, and Chiefs in the first four weeks. Three of those are playoff teams, and the Eagles have the best record in the NFL.

The final major factor was entirely controllable by the team. Their effort. At times on the field, the players didn’t look motivated to try hard. In the borderline elimination game against the Cowboys, they came out completely flat. That’s the area that’s hardest to cope with, because that was entirely within their control. They just didn’t bring energy.

All that aside, today’s game in one final chance to watch Redskins football in 2017. It’s the final day of the year, and the last game of the season. We won’t get another taste of Washington football until the preseason begins in early August. So, it’s important to take this time to enjoy the game as it happens, as it will be a relatively long time before the team is in action again.
