For many weeks, the Chargers were viewed as a team on the outside looking in. And the Redskins were in control of their own destiny. Since then, however, the script has flipped.

Jay Gruden and the Redskins, now 5-7, are at the mercy of the NFC’s wild card candidates. And none of those teams seem to want to lose. With ten NFC teams preserving a better record than the Redskins, their fate in 2017 is all but sealed.

The Chargers, on the other hand, are still in the race. In the much weaker AFC, they have a shot to usurp not only a wild card spot, but also the AFC West division crown, after so many counted them out earlier in the season. The Chargers, unlike the Redskins, are motivated to win this game. But motivation didn’t do anything for the Redskins earlier in the season. In a week to week league, it’s always hard to predict what’s next.

The Redskins travel to Los Angeles today, not seeking a playoff berth, but rather, seeking redemption. Seeking a chance to turn the tides and end their season with a little bit of optimism. They’ll do so in hostile territory. The game will take place in StubHub Center at 4:05 PM EST, aired live on CBS Sports. Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts will get the call, with Evan Washburn providing commentary from the sideline. Don’t live in the region? Don’t worry!
