Though the Redskins are still without a few players for Sunday’s game against the Chargers, their injury report is clearing up a bit.

This week, the Washington Redskins were expected to be without a couple of key players on both sides of the ball. While there were many questions about the state of their starting tackles, both Trent Williams and Morgan Moses are questionable. This is good news for the squad as they look to take on the Chargers fierce pass rush. However, the team is going to be without a key player on the defensive side of the ball.

Montae Nicholson, the rookie safety who was supposedly making progress in his return from a concussion, suffered a setback in practice this week. As a result, he will be out for a third straight game after suffering the injury.

Without Nicholson, the Redskins are going to be forced to play Deshazor Everett and DeAngelo Hall against the Chargers. Neither has been particularly effective as a starter this year. Everett has struggled in coverage at times while Hall has been brutal for most of the season. Nicholson has showed good coverage skills, and in an ideal situation, the Redskins could platoon him with Everett. Instead, they will be forced to use Everett as the starter and hope that he can hold up.

Meanwhile, on the offensive side of the ball, Kirk Cousins will be without two offensive weapons. The first is Jordan Reed. For yet another week, the tight end didn’t practice due to a hamstring injury and it is looking increasingly likely that he won’t return this season. Reed is very injury prone, but the Redskins won’t be able to trade him for anything valuable due to his massive contract.

Elsewhere, Maurice Harris will miss the game with a concussion. This was an expected development, as he had not cleared concussion protocol after suffering one against the Cowboys last Thursday. With another week, maybe he will be able to come back healthy.

In terms of the questionable players, Moses and Williams are the big names to watch. If either misses the game, Cousins will be under a lot of pressure. Additionally, Zach Brown is questionable once again, and if he can’t play, the Redskins defense could have a bad day.
