Su’a Cravens has been absent from the Redskins all year. The team really needs him to return in a big way during 2018.

Right before the start of the 2017 season, Su’a Cravens left the Redskins. The second year man and first year safety had been projected as a starter for the team, but seemingly out of the blue, he told his teammates that he was going to retire. After spending a few weeks away from the team, the Redskins officially ended his season by putting him on one of the reserve lists.

Without Cravens, the back end of the Redskins defense hasn’t been quite as good as initially expected. While the unit has some strong pieces, they are missing a second playmaker at safety. While the team has some players that were supposed to be able to fill in, things haven’t exactly gone as planned thus far.

With all that said, the Redskins are going to need Cravens to return in 2018. If they want to take their secondary to the next level, they have to hope that the former second round pick is ready to play at a high level. Here’s why.
