The Redskins will be looking for revenge against the Dallas Cowboys later tonight, and if recent trends continue, they could accomplish just that. What do our writers think will happen? Let’s find out! Here’s Ian’s prediction:

The Cowboys beat the Redskins by double digits earlier this year. In a vacuum, one would think the same would happen this week. But a lot can change over the course of a season. Even in just a matter of days.

The Cowboys are a prime example of this. Just weeks ago, they were rolling, well on their way to a wild card berth. The offense was rumbling along, with Ezekiel Elliot leading the way, and Sean Lee headed a stellar defensive effort. Now in Week 13, both of the previously mentioned players are gone from the starting lineup. And the team looks completely different.

Once 5-3, the Cowboys have lost three straight games, scoring less than ten points in all of those games. Dak Prescott has been dismal, throwing for five interceptions to zero, count ’em, zero touchdowns. The offense has lacked life, and the defense has lacked inspiration, and the two have fed off of each other, cumulating to concoct a chain of spectacular failures.

More from Riggo's Rag

I don’t see the Cowboys’ slump continuing this week. The Redskins never get that lucky. But I do see an impressive effort on the way from the boys in burgundy and gold. Samaje Perine is finding running room, even with the ever-rotating offensive line, and Kirk Cousins has the offense playing at a high level. The defense, week in and week out, plays with attitude, and that will only be magnified against an arch-rival like the Cowboys.

Unfortunately, that attitude will likely be reciprocated. The Cowboys know they need a win this week, and they know the Redskins need a win as well. Both teams are incredibly motivated. Not only to get the win, but to knock the other out of the chase. At home, the Cowboys will only have further advantage. Right now, however, the Redskins are just the better team. The Cowboys will put up a fight, and a good fight, and they’ll make our defense look bad by scoring far more than anyone expects them to.

But tonight will be Kirk Cousins’ night. Against a linebacking core pillaged by injuries and a secondary fresh with new, inexperienced starters, I see Cousins having a very solid day, directing his team to a crucial divisional win. Cowboys’ fans will be leaving with scowls on their faces. The Redskins will take this one, by a score of 38-24.
