Week 13 at Dallas Cowboys

Over the course of the past three weeks, the Dallas Cowboys offense has looked absolutely terrible. Ezekiel Elliott is midway through his six game suspension and won’t be returning to the team any time soon. He dropped his last gasp attempt at an appeal, so he won’t be around for the Cowboys game against the Redskins.

That’s going to be bad news for Dak Prescott and company. Without Elliott and with left tackle Tyron Smith banged up, Prescott hasn’t been able to generate anything as a passer. The team has score 10 or less points in each of the last three contests, and they didn’t show any signs of improvement on Thanksgiving Day. Against the Redskins, the team could have a lot of trouble.

The Redskins defense has had an up-and-down season, but they are coming off a strong performance against the Giants. They allowed only three points on defense, as the lone Giants touchdown came on a pick six.

The way that the Skins were able to beat the Giants was their excellent pass rush that was generated by Ryan Kerrigan and Junior Galette. Kerrigan was able to destroy undrafted rookie right tackle Chad Wheeler and he racked up a couple of sacks against him. The duo made Eli Manning’s life miserable, and they should be able to do the same versus Dallas.

The player to attack on the Dallas line is Tyron Smith. Smith is a Pro Bowl talent and is arguably the best left tackle in the league. But he’s dealing with an injury and isn’t the same. Greg Manusky has to attack him with Kerrigan and send multiple rushers towards Smith and left guard Jonathan Cooper. If they can do that, then the offense may put up 10 points or less once again.

Should the Redskins be able to shut down the Cowboys offense, their own offense will be able to score enough on the Dallas defense to win. If Sean Lee doesn’t play, the Skins should put up 28. It’s hard to imagine that the Cowboys could keep pace with that. So, this game looks like a win that would improve the team to 6-6.

Projected Result: Redskins win 28-15, improve to 6-6
