The Washington Redskins have a chance to get hot over their final five games of the season. They could qualify for the postseason if things work out favorably for them.

After their Thanksgiving Day win over the New York Giants, there was a renewed sense of hope for the Washington Redskins. Looking at the rest of their schedule, they have a much weaker slate than what they faced early in the season. To start the year, the team had faced one of the hardest schedules in the NFL, so they are a team that could be better than their record indicates.

Because of this, the Redskins will have a chance to make a late push to make the postseason. Yes, there are currently 10 teams ahead of them in the race for the six seed, but they are only a game back of most of them. If they have a strong finish to the season, they will play themselves into contention once again. It could be another year where they have a shot to win their way into the field in Week 17. It would take a lot for that to happen, but first and foremost, the Redskins would have to take control of the rest of their schedule.

The combined record of the Redskins final five opponents stands at 19-34, pending Sunday’s results in a couple of contests. This is a fairly weak slate, and the team is facing quite a few opponents who are on a down stretch. There is a chance that the Redskins could go on a hot streak and really push towards the 10 win mark, though a perfect record down the stretch is probably too much to ask.

With all that said, here’s an in-depth look at the final five matchups that the Redskins have to close the 2017 season, complete with key matchups and win/loss projections.
