Game day is here once again. The Washington Redskins need to get a win over the New Orleans Saints to stay relevant. Comment on the game action here!

Today’s game against the Saints is going to tell us a lot about the Redskins. In the midst of a 1-3 stretch that has seen them pull off one of the biggest upsets they’ve had in recent years over the Seahawks while also allowing Case Keenum to look like the second coming of Tom Brady, the team is skating on thin ice. There isn’t much time left to get back into the Wild Card race, and the 4-5 Redskins are likely one loss away from being deemed irrelevant. Of course, that is barring any sudden changes in the NFC or any lengthy win streaks for the Skins.

As of right now, the Saints are favored to win the contest. After all, they are on a seven game win streak and enjoy a terrific homefield advantage at the Superdome. Their offense, and in particular their running game, should give the Redskins fits as they look to slow down the stellar Saints unit.

On the offensive side of the ball for the Redskins, things don’t get much easier. The Saints defense has greatly improved over the course of the season, and they currently are the No. 8 team in the league in terms of yards allowed. Washington will be rolling with Samaje Perine as their new starter and while that could work, the rookie has had limited work as a starter. If their run game gets shut down, Kirk Cousins may be asked to do too much which could render the Redskins unit ineffective.

It’s hard to be optimistic about the chances for a Skins win. But they have surprised fans and foes alike at times this season. Their victories over the Raiders and the Seahawks were both very impressive wins that saw their defense dominate. In order to have a chance against New Orleans, they must get similar effort from their stop unit today.
