2. Maurice Harris records over 100 yards receiving, 1 TD

The Redskins are going to be pretty thin at the receiver position on Sunday afternoon. Terrelle Pryor has already been declared out for the contest due to ankle injury. Pryor is going to get the ankle checked on Monday, and it’s unclear how long he will be shelved.

Elsewhere, Ryan Grant and Brian Quick are both questionable for the team. Both are recovering from concussions, so their availability is up in the air. Because of this, the Redskins may have only a few active receivers on the roster unless they make a roster move. That means someone has to step up, and it well could be Maurice Harris.

Harris made his return to the active roster last week and he did so with a bang. In the first quarter, He made a beautiful diving, one handed catch on the sideline and fell down just inside the pylon to open the scoring. He finished the day with two catches for 50 yards and the touchdowns. He looked like a strong route runner and a good possession receiver, which is something that the Redskins had previously been lacking.

Against the Saints, the Redskins are going to have a tough time finding space in the secondary. The Saints have a very solid overall unit, led by Ken Crawley and Marshon Lattimore. The young duo has developed into a strong coverage tandem and they should be able to lock down Josh Doctson and Jamison Crowder. Even if Crowder is in the slot, the Saints may elect to move players around to put one of their better guys on him. That would leave Harris open occasionally which makes him a real wild card.

Thanks to his size, Harris will have a chance to catch some jump balls over the Saints defense and his route running skills will come in handy too. He’s flying under the radar right now, so there’s a strong chance that he could continue to perform well and force the Saints to adjust. He has a legitimate chance to break the century mark in this contest, especially if the team doesn’t have many bodies at the receiver position. And adding another touchdown is a possibility as well.
