It’s the second half of the regular season, which means it might be a good idea to start thinking ahead.

The Redskins have a good team this year. A very good team, dare I say, if they were healthy. But unfortunately, injuries have hit especially hard this year, and a number of key free agent acquisitions haven’t exactly made their presence felt. This is a good team. But they can get better.

Early observations suggest that the Redskins will likely go offense for much of the impending draft. When Terrelle Pryor inevitably leaves, they’ll need another playmaker on the outside to go along with Josh Doctson, who has earned some trust for now. But do they need to get that playmaker in the first round? Who might we be overlooking? Who could be this year’s ultimate gem.

Today, we’ll start the search for the ultimate gem, with Riggo’s Rag‘s Saturday Spotlight. Who says you need first round picks to compete? Who says you have to draft them tenth overall to get returns tenfold? In our Saturday Spotlight, we’ll take a look at some lesser known prospects, some players who aren’t necessarily the buzz of the draft.

And today, our column takes us to East Lansing, Michigan, on the banks of the Red Cedar River, where a big-bodied receiver is slowly making himself known by making even bigger plays. Today, we’ll look at WR Felton Davis, junior for the Michigan State Spartans.
