The Redskins made some expected roster moves on Saturday, adding help at a couple positions that need it.

Due to the injuries on the defensive line, the Redskins were expected to promote a defensive lineman to the active roster. They’ve done just that, and more, today. Reports say that the Redskins have elevated WR Maurice Harris and DL Brandon Banks to the active roster. John Keim of ESPN reported the news.

The Redskins also waived UFA offensive lineman Tyler Catalina, per Ben Standig of FanRag Sports. The Redskins needed more room to account for other injuries. There’s no word on if the Redskins will bring him back, but the move makes it clear that the offensive line is getting healthier. We could see a few starters back in the action tomorrow.

Of the two players signed to the active roster, Maurice Harris is certain to draw more attention. The second-year receiver saw some action in his first year with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent, logging 66 yards on eight catches. He was a fan favorite in some circles. Despite his promise shown in year one, however, the Redskins kept Harris on the practice squad in favor of Brian Quick. With Harris back and ready for business, Kirk Cousins has one more weapon he’s familiar with.

Brandon Banks, like Catalina, is a UFA from this year. He attended the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and he spent the offseason with the team. At 6-foot-3, 267, Banks offers good size at his position, and it was for this reason that the Redskins kept him around on the practice squad. With the injury to recent signee Arthur Jones, Banks was promoted, and he should see action fairly quickly, due to the state of the defensive line. It’ll be interesting to see how much progress he’s undergone in his time on the practice squad.
