Overall

This is a contest that is very hard to predict. On one hand, the Redskins are coming off a major, emotional win on the road. They could be drained and the re-energized Vikings could do well coming off a bye week.

At the same time, the win in Seattle could be enough to spark the Redskins on one of their trademark midseason runs. In the past couple years, the team has gone on a couple of runs where they have beaten solid teams over the course of a month. They could be hitting another torrid stretch, and this game against the Vikings could continue to spark them.

One thing appears to be certain. This game should be a defensive battle. Both teams have strengths on that side of the ball and they each have some serious weaknesses on the offensive side. This is good news for the Redskins, as it seems unlikely that they would be able to keep pace in a shootout.

At the end of the day, this is going to be a very close game. But for now, I’ll favor the home team despite their injuries. The Redskins have a chance to gain momentum. Beating a team like Minnesota is what they need to do to get their team rolling in the second half of the season.

Score Prediction: Redskins 17, Vikings 13
