The Washington Redskins are not a good looking team on paper right now. They are projected to lose to the Seattle Seahawks in this week’s Madden Simulation.

As it stands, the Washington Redskins may be the most banged up team in the NFL. They have had a ridiculous amount of players featured on the injury report this week, and it appears that they will once again be without a good deal of starters on Sunday afternoon. Because of this, many are projecting the team to get crushed by the Seattle Seahawks in their trip west.

The Seahawks possess one of the best homefield advantages in the NFL. Playing at CenturyLink Field is nearly impossible for opposing teams. It’s extremely loud and the Seahawks feed off their crowd. That’s why they have such a good home record.

This week, App Trigger’s Madden Simulation from Michael Owens is predicting that the Seahawks will emerge victorious due to this advantage as well as some others. The final score is set to be a 49-17 win for Seattle. Per Owens, Russell Wilson and the Seattle running backs are going to have a huge day against the Redskins:

"Russell Wilson threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns, and the Seahawks scored four times on the ground on the way to a dominant win over the Redskins. Seattle found themselves up 28-17 at the start of the fourth quarter but then scored 21 unanswered points to take away any doubt and hopes for a Washington comeback. Thomas Rawls took 27 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the win for the Seahawks, while Eddie Lacy ran for 62 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown of his own. Wilson also scored on the ground, but not before throwing his touchdowns to three different receivers, including Lacy."

This type of stat line could certainly be possible for Wilson. He has had to do a lot of passing this season due to the weakness of his offensive line and run game. Him throwing for close to 300 yards and garnering multiple scores is definitely within the realm of possibility. Especially given the banged up nature of the Redskins defense.

However, Seattle totaling 196 rushing yards from Rawls and Lacy seems a bit far fetched. Neither has been particularly good this season, and though the Redskins have a weak front at the moment, that is still a bit too big of a jump in production for both. The duo could combine for over 100 yards in the right circumstance, but close to 200 is too much.

Meanwhile, on the Redskins side of the ball, Kirk Cousins was pedestrian once again. Past simulations have not favored Cousins in many matchups, and the one against Seattle was no different. In this contest, he had only 175 passing yards and a touchdown. He also threw two picks and was generally not a big factor for the team.

An encouraging part of the simulation was the performance of Chris Thompson. The running back, enjoying a breakout season, is one of the most important players to watch on Sunday, as he will be a potential catalyst for the offense. In the simulation, he gashed the Seahawks for 124 yards on 18 carries and was a force to be reckoned with. If Washington wants any chance at winning, Thompson will have to have that type of big game.

Overall, the Redskins are still likely to lose to the Seahawks, but hopefully the scoring margin is wrong. It would be nice to see the Redskins remain competitive despite all the injuries they are dealing with.
