5 Redskins to watch in Week 9 matchup vs. Seattle Seahawks
1. RB Chris Thompson
If the Redskins are going to have a chance to beat the Seahawks, they need their playmakers to step up. That is going to include Chris Thompson who has been one of the team’s best offensive players so far in 2017. Seattle’s front seven is solid, and Thompson is the only back on the team’s roster who may stand a chance against them.
Thompson has been excellent in the screen game this season, and I expect that the Redskins will use that to their advantage on Sunday. The Seahawks have a very aggressive defensive line that often can be a bit overaggressive. If the Redskins use this to their advantage, they will be able to get the Seattle linemen to bear down on Cousins while he dumps off a short pass to Thompson. The shifty back will then be able to use his playmaking ability to take the ball through the secondary.
Additionally, Thompson is going to have to help gain some yardage in order for the Redskins to have a chance in the passing game. If the run offense can’t get going, Cousins will be a sitting duck for the Seahawks to chase after every play. That would definitely signify a Redskins loss if that happens.

Overall, Thompson has the potential to be a game changer for the Redskins. If he shows up, the team might be able to keep pace with the Seahawks. If not, then it could be a long day for the team on the offensive side of the ball.
