5. DL Arthur Jones

Coming into the game against the Seahawks, it was a known fact that Washington would need to find some more depth on the defensive line. The team had lost Matt Ioannidis this past week, and they had only four healthy linemen on the roster as a result. They elected to take a chance on a veteran player and brought Arthur Jones in to join the team.

Jones is the brother of Chandler Jones and has been out of the NFL this season. He was recovering from sports hernia surgery but now is fully healthy. The team will hope that he can provide some solid play to them when the take on Seattle.

As I said in the immediate aftermath of Washington signing Jones, I said the following about how he would fit in with the team.

More from Commanders News

"Right now, the Redskins are just betting on Jones to become a productive rotational player. Given his success in the past, it worth taking a shot on him with a short term deal. If he’s fully healthy, he might be able to have an impact and produce a bit as an interior rusher. That will be very important for the team, as Ioannidis and Allen were the team’s top two pass rushing five techs."

There’s no downside to bringing in a player like Jones to give him a try. Against the Seahawks, the Redskins will get their first good look at him in action. Hopefully, he will demonstrate that they have uncovered a gem to help them replace some of their lost depth on the defensive line. This being his first contest since 2016, Jones is obviously one of the top players to watch in this contest.
