4. WR Josh Doctson

The Washington receiving corps has not played well to start the 2017 season. Terrelle Pryor has underwhelmed, Jamison Crowder hasn’t been entirely healthy, and Josh Doctson has not quite lived up to expectations yet. That said, Doctson has flashed solid potential but he needs to get more consistent in order to be a good starter.

Against the 49ers, Doctson will have a chance to snap out of his funk. The 49ers don’t have a very strong secondary, as their top cornerback is Rashard Robinson. Robinson isn’t a No. 1 cornerback and that will give the Redskins a chance to exploit matchups across the secondary. Doctson is the most talented member of the receiving corps, so this could be an opportunity for him to break out.

That said, Doctson has to make sure that he doesn’t commit any drops against San Francisco. He has been plagued by them early in the season, and he dropped a potential game winning touchdown against the Chiefs, though it wouldn’t have been an easy catch to make. Doctson has to show consistent hands to take the next step as he looks to become a No. 1 receiver.

If Doctson breaks out, the Redskins passing game will likely see a boost in the near future. The team needs him to become a threat if they want to take the next step as an offensive unit.
