It was a good win against the Raiders on Sunday night, but now the sobering lull of the injury report makes an appearance. Redskins tackle Ty Nsekhe is one of a couple new names on the list.

The Redskins’ offensive line functions not just on talent, but on depth as well. Most interior players can play multiple positions, and all along the line, they have good reserve players to pick up the slack when the starters need rest.

Unfortunately, the burgundy and gold will be without one of their key reserve players for an undisclosed period of time. The Redskins’ official twitter account first reported the news. The loss is one that isn’t necessarily felt right away, but it could come back to haunt the team in the long run. Nsekhe played very well in relief of Trent Williams in 2016. His presence is a valuable one, and now, the Redskins will be without it for the foreseeable future.

With Nsekhe out, the Redskins will either go with T.J. Clemmings or Tyler Catalina in his place. Based on resume alone, Clemmings looks to be the favorite to be active as a backup next week. He has the experience that Catalina lacks. But Catalina impressed the coaches enough in the offseason to stay on the roster, and come Monday, the team could find that Catalina’s offseason of experience in the Redskins’ system is more valuable than Clemmings’ league tenure. Catalina also provides the team with versatility. He played both guard and tackle in college at Georgia. Keep an eye out for this decision, as it will likely be made at the end of the preparation week.

In other injury news, Robert Kelley, Mason Foster, and  Jordan Reed, all of whom sat out in the Redskins’ 27-10 win over the Raiders, are still listed as day-to-day with minor injuries. While each player provides the Redskins with a unique element, the team needed none of them to trounce the Raiders on Sunday Night Football. The Redskins’ depth is good enough to survive another week, if they need to. Additionally, Samaje Perine suffered a hand injury late in last night’s game, but he appears to be good to go, per Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post.

The Redskins continue their AFC West tour next week in another prime time matchup, this time against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs, behind ex-game manager Alex Smith and rookie sensation Kareem Hunt, have one of the most sensational offenses in the league. But then again, so did the Raiders, until the Redskins shut them down. Still, this battle will go down on the road, and it will be far from an easy task.
