The Washington Redskins suffered a great deal of injuries in Sunday’s contest. Two of their top offensive players appear to be okay after their respective scares.

In the Redskins 27-20 win over the Rams, they had many players go down with injuries throughout the contest. Seemingly every other play, the Redskins lost a starter, but it appears that they avoided any major injuries. Notably, two of their offensive stars appear to be okay and could be ready for the team’s Week 3 game.

Rob Kelley went down with a rib injury in the first half, and he never returned. After the win, there was some concern that the Kelley may have fractured a rib. Fortunately, it appears that Kelley dodged a bullet as he only suffered a cartilage injury.

Kelley could be ready for Week 3, but the Redskins will need to monitor his situation. Given that he is a highly physical player, any lingering rib injury could hinder his ability. Washington may be best suited to limit Kelley’s workload this Sunday just to make sure he is 100 percent. Working in Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson in more of a rotation. It wouldn’t be too surprising if Perine and Kelley split carries just to make sure that Kelley doesn’t re-aggravate his injury.

Elsewhere, Jordan Reed once again suffered a minor injury. The star tight end missed some time against the Rams after he suffered a chest injury. Thankfully, he was able to return and doesn’t appear to be slated to miss any time.

In spite of the positive prognosis, the team has to be concerned that Reed got nicked up once again. Reed has never stayed healthy for a full season, and he already was dealing with a toe issue that was limiting him this season. If he continues to suffer minor injuries that pile up, he could eventually miss time or his athletic ability will be minimized.

The Redskins have to handle Reed carefully and while he seems likely to see a full workload against the Raiders on Sunday night, the team should consider working Vernon Davis and Niles Paul into the rotation a little bit more just to keep Reed fresh.

Overall, these injuries are minor blips on the Redskins radar. Their players appear to be ready to go, but the team just has to monitor them. We will continue to provide updates on Kelley and Reed’s health as Week 3 approaches.
