The first preseason game for the Washington Redskins will be taking place tonight. Here’s our live game blog for all of the action!

The moment is finally here. We are officially back to football. In a matter of moments, the Washington Redskins are going to be suiting up for their first preseason game of the year. The team is going to be taking on the Baltimore Ravens in an early battle of the beltway. The Ravens should be an intriguing matchup for the Redskins, as both teams are going to be looking to test out their young talent in this game.

Throughout the week, we have taken a look at every angle of the game. We’ve seen bold predictions about the contest. Ravens experts have given us an inside look at what to expect from their team. We’ve highlighted which Redskins players to watch and also the top position battles that will be on display.

Of course, we are not going to see everything that the Redskins will have just yet. Kirk Cousins is still going to play minimally. Junior Galette is out with a hamstring injury, while a handful of other starters will be sitting this contest out. That’s the way things go in the first week of the preseason.

Though it is the preseason, we here at Riggo’s Rag are expecting a solid game, and are predicting a victory for the Redskins. Throughout the game, we will update this live game blog with the events as they unfold. Feel free to comment below and analyze the game along with us!

6:55: The Redskins are wearing burgundy jerseys tonight along with gold pants, per CSN Mid-Atlantic’s Rich Tandler. The Ravens are decked out in white!

7:00: 30 minutes until game time.

7:13: In case you’re looking for where to watch the game, we’ve got you covered here.

7:15: Kirk Cousins apparently really likes to sing. Just a short while after he was caught rapping a song from Hamilton, he was seen singing along to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” as he walked onto the field.

7:33: Deshazor Everett is the Redskins special teams captain tonight. Kirk Cousins, Trent Williams, and Will Compton are the other three. Could Everett being a captain push Niles Paul off the roster? That’s an interesting storyline to watch.

7:36: The Redskins are set to receive the kick. The Ravens won the toss and deferred.

7:40: The Redskins start off with a three and out. Kirk Cousins threw an incomplete pass and was sacked after Spencer Long was overpowered on a blitz. Robert Kelley got two yards on one carry. Perhaps they are just getting warmed up.

7:45: And the Redskins force a three and out of their own. Their starters will be out on the field once again!

7:48: Another three and out for the Redskins. They had trouble running the ball against the Ravens deep in their own territory. The Ravens take over in good field position, near midfield.

7:57: We’re almost halfway through the first quarter. No first downs. Samaje Perine saw his first carry, but was stopped after a couple yards.

8:05: Justin Tucker missed a field goal, but a penalty on Stacy McGee gives the Ravens a free first down.

8:08: Terrance West has a nice long run for the Ravens, then leaps over the Redskins line a couple plays later for a touchdown. Still, the Redskins defensive line has looked better against the run thus far than they did last year. Ravens lead 7-0.

8:14: Colt McCoy completes a pass to Ryan Grant for a first down, their first of the game. The Redskins are starting to build some momentum.

8:17: The first quarter has ended. The Redskins will have fourth and short when the game returns. They trail the Ravens, 7-0.

8:22: Samaje Perine converts on a fourth and inches to get the first down for the Redskins. That may help his case a bit to become at least a short yardage back in this offense.

8:25: Perine may have some rookie jitters. He fumbled a carry after bumping into his own man and then dropped an easy dump off pass. He’ll have to shake those to earn a bigger role in the team’s backfield.

8:31: Rookie Josh Holsey has looked pretty good thus far. He made a nice pass deflection on the goal line after Ryan Mallett chucked a ball into double coverage. That helped force the Ravens to punt.

8:38: Matt Jones saw his first action of the game. He was stuffed on a couple of runs. The Redskins backup linemen are struggling to block at the moment. It will be interesting to see if the team experiments with new offensive line combinations.

8:54: Nico Marley makes a nice tackle to force a fourth down. Marley, an undrafted free agent out of Tulane, is the grandson of Bob Marley. He’s a bit undersized, but he is certainly a gamer.

9:00: Colt McCoy throws an interception trying to force the ball downfield in the one minute drill. The Ravens got a few more plays in before the half expired, and Tucker converted a 59 yard field goal. 13-0 Ravens at the half.

9:23: Dustin Hopkins nails a 49-yard field goal to put the Redskins on the board! The Redskins now trail 13-3.

9:25: In his one series, Nate Sudfeld has looked sharp. His arm looks strong and he has been pretty accurate. He threaded the needle on a third down pass, but his receiver couldn’t come up with the catch.

9:30: Anthony Lanier II and Nico Marley each pick up sacks. The Redskins have been able to get some pressure on the Baltimore quarterbacks tonight, which is an encouraging sign!

9:38: The Redskins offense continues to struggle. After gaining 17 on a first and 20, the offense stalls out. They are now 1-for-9 on third down conversions.

9:52: Ravens get another touchdown. Josh Woodrum finds Tim White, who had Kendall Fuller beat, for the score to extend the lead to 20-3.

10:03: A first down catch by Mannaseh Garner is overturned, as it was ruled that he didn’t complete the process of the catch. The Redskins will punt once again.

10:17: Tucker adds another field goal for the Ravens, who lead 23-3. With half a quarter left to play, this looks like it will be a losing effort for the Redskins.
