Redskins QB Kirk Cousins plays golf with Kyle ‘Who’??
By Ian Cummings
The offseason is a time for many football players to attempt to summon their inner golfer. More often than not, they fail miserably. But that didn’t stop Kirk Cousins from hitting the green, and meeting up with some interesting company along the way.
Kirk Cousins isn’t sweating the contract indecision that occurred just three days ago. On the contrary. He’s living it up, swinging some sticks with his remaining down time before the cumbersome training camp hits in just a matter of days. Courtesy of the quarterback’s twitter feed, he hit the course with a couple of folks who go way back with Cousins. An older fella, and a younger guy named… ‘Kyle’.
The signal caller’s golf game doesn’t look too bad, but he still couldn’t beat his old man, Don Cousins. And look way back there! It’s his brother, Kyle! Kyle Cousins! At least Kirk came in second. His competitive spirit likely got him that far. But if there’s somehow a proportional relationship between good football and bad golfing, then perhaps the Redskins should try out Kyle Cousins if Kirk leaves next year. At least Bruce Allen wouldn’t call him ‘Kurt’ on accident.
Coincidentally, rumors of Kirk Cousins defecting to another Kyle’s 49ers next year are starting to gain steam. Cousins has expressed a desire to remain with the Redskins on multiple occasions, and the Redskins have reciprocated that notion. But despite the pleasantries passed back and forth between the two sides, no deal was realized. Both appear to be content with the franchise tag in 2017. But after that, no one knows what will happen.

And no one’s dwelling on it, either. Kirk Cousins already appears to have his mind far past contract negotiations, and following his last attempts at enjoying the offseason, he’ll back on the daily grind, working hard in training camp to top his 2016 numbers. It’s an important year for the burgundy and gold. The Redskins can’t afford to score another bogey. And Cousins can’t miss any game-winning putts. It’s golfing season now. But before we know it, football will be back. And Cousins will swap the fairway for some fresh turf.
