In the latest installment of the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017, NFL Network revealed the players ranked from 70 to 61. Two Washington Redskins players were included in the newest group of players.

Before Monday, no Washington Redskins players appeared from 100 to 70 in the NFL Top 100. Now, in one night, the Redskins have two players represent them on the list. Kirk Cousins fell in at No. 70, while Jordan Reed claimed the No. 65 spot. Both players saw improvement from last year. Cousins moved up 15 spots from his No. 85 rank last year, and Jordan Reed moved up 12 spots from No. 77.

The improvement is well-deserved for both players. In 2016, Kirk Cousins threw for nearly 5,000 yards, maintaining a healthy 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Since the midway point of the 2015 season, he’s been the highest rated passer in the NFL. With a revamped receiving core in 2017, one should expect those numbers to keep improving.

Jordan Reed saw a decrease in statistical production in 2015, but it was his play on the field, and not necessarily his stats, that warranted a boost on the Top 100. A top target in the Redskins’ offense, Reed consistently made fools of linebackers and safeties who attempted to stop him. He shined the brightest against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, recording 95 yards and 2 touchdowns with an AC separation in his shoulder. If he can stay healthy, his dominance will only continue in 2017.

With 60 slots left on the board, there’s plenty of room for more burgundy and gold. Josh Norman, Terrelle Pryor, and Trent Williams are likely to make the list, while Ryan Kerrigan and Brandon Scherff could sneak aboard, despite their general lack of appreciation throughout the league. Tune in next Monday to see if the Redskins have any players in the next batch of stars.
