The Washington Redskins took an important step to solidifying their roster on Thursday. They inked almost all of their new draft picks to deals.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins had 10 overall picks. It was widely assumed that they would target needs on the defensive side of the ball early and often. They did just that. In the first three rounds, the team added playmakers at each level of the defense. In the later rounds, they filled holes on offense and added depth players as well. The team had an excellent draft class, and they should get some solid contributors moving forward.

Of course, before they actually can contribute as members of the Redskins, they all had to sign their rookie contracts. Nine of them did that on Thursday.

According to Redskins.com’s Stephen Czarda, all but one of the Redskins rookies agreed on terms to be a member of the Redskins. Per Czarda, those players are Jonathan Allen, Ryan Anderson, Samaje Perine, Montae Nicholson, Jeremy Sprinkle, Chase Roullier, Robert Davis, Josh Harvey Clemons and Joshua Holsey. Since the new CBA has set numerical values for most contracts based on rookie contracts, it is widely expected that they will be paid fairly standard deals.

The only player who has yet to sign a contract is third round pick Fabian Moreau. The former UCLA Bruin was once considered to be a possible first round pick, but he tore a pectoral muscle at his pro day and that caused him to slide. That very injury is likely what is keeping him from signing a deal this early. He may be looking to negotiate when fully healthy to avoid allowing the Redskins to have leverage.

At the end of the day, there is nothing particularly surprising about these developments. It is just nice to know that almost all of the newest Redskins have agreed to join the team. Once Moreau inks his deal, then the Redskins will be in solid shape from a youth standpoint as the 2017 NFL season approaches.
