The 2017 NFL Draft is going to be happening tonight. We will keep you updated on all of the latest Washington Redskins action here.

One of the best days of the year is draft day. The 32 teams across the NFL are going to get a chance to add some quality players to their team in the 2017 NFL Draft. Among them is the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are just a few pieces away from being a playoff contender, and they have a whopping 10 picks over course of the draft.

In the first round, they have the No. 17 overall pick, but they are also rumored to be moving into the late first round to target a specific defensive back. There is a chance that they could use their extra draft capital to help get this done.

Numerous mock drafts have been done over the course of the week, and our most recent first round mock has the Redskins targeting a defensive end in the first round. In our 7-round mock, the Redskins get lucky and land a highly athletic linebacker prospect whose stock is steadily rising.

Rumors will continue to fly in throughout the night, and so will the picks. We will consistently update this blog throughout the night, so be sure to check back periodically to keep up with the latest Redskins draft news!

7:01: There are several rumors flowing around the league right now about the Redskins. Apparently, they are no longer interested in Jarrad Davis or Dalvin Cook. Is it all just a smokescreen?

7:40: Player introductions just finished up. The 2017 NFL Draft is set to begin in just 20 minutes, and Myles Garrett now appears to be the overwhelming favorite to go No. 1 overall, as he should be.

7:45: Big update in the top 3. The Bears are considering trading down from No. 3, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This could be a move down in the event that Solomon Thomas goes off the board to the 49ers. The Browns are a potential partner, if they want to move up and get Mitchell Trubisky.

8:00: We’re officially underway. The Cleveland Browns are officially on the clock!

8:14: The Browns go with Myles Garrett, as many thought that they would. Garrett was the top player in this draft, and he is going to upgrade the defense. He and Jamie Collins are going to be a solid duo, and this is a good pick by the Browns. Picking Trubisky over him would have been an embarrassment.

8:16: The Bears are trading up to the No. 2 spot. They are probably going to take Solomon Thomas at No. 2 overall. Smart move by 49ers GM John Lynch, as they are trying to move back and accumulate picks.

8:22: Wow. A shocking pick. The Bears go with Mitchell Trubisky when everyone thought they were getting a defender. The team already had Mike Glennon, so this makes little sense. And why did they move up to get him? Bad move by the Bears, who sacrificed two third round picks and a fourth rounder to move up one spot.

8:29: The 49ers move down one spot and still get the guy they would have taken at No. 2. They picked up three extra picks. What a move. an easy “A” grade for the 49ers.

8:35: The Jaguars had a chance to land a high quality player, thanks to the selection of Trubisky. They ended up taking Leonard Fournette to be their workhorse back. This is a solid pick, and one that we predicted in our final mock draft.

8:43: I thought the Titans were going to trade down, but with Trubisky off the board, it was apparently hard to find a partner. That said, they were in a great situation regardless. However, the team took Corey Davis with the No. 5 overall pick. That is a major reach. He was considered to be a second rounder by some, so taking him top five is ludicrous. He could be a No. 1 guy, but there is too much risk for him to go this high.

8:45: After the top five, Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster, Charles Harris, Haason Reddick, and Adoree Jackson are still on the board. This is good news for the Redskins, as there are 12 picks to go before they select. They have a chance to land a high impact player thanks to the rise of a couple of lower level prospects.

8:55: Ian Rapoport dropped this bombshell, sending Redskins fans into a frenzy.

8:56: Also, Jamal Adams came off the board to the New York Jets. A Cousins trade still seems pretty unlikely, but the fact that the Browns are trying to have discussions is something to watch.

9:01: The Chargers make a surprise pick, going with Mike Williams with the No. 7 pick. With Malik Hooker and Jonathan Allen still on the board, this really is a surprise. Williams is a solid player and was not really a reach, it’s just surprising to see them eschew the more talented defensive players.

9:10: Christian McCaffrey goes to the Panthers and John Ross to the Bengals. A couple of big time athletes. The Redskins have to be happy that Malik Hooker, Jonathan Allen, and Haason Reddick are all still on the board. They are going to land a defensive player that they like with the No. 17 overall pick.

9:14: Kansas City just traded up to No. 10. The Bills move down. Will the Chiefs take a quarterback (Pat Mahomes)?

9:19: Indeed the pick is Mahomes. I believe that Mahomes is the best quarterback in this draft, and allowing Mahomes to develop for at least one year would be a great move. This is too early for him and they gave up too much, but this could still pan out for them.

9:28: The Saints get a steal with Marshon Lattimore at No. 11. He easily could have been the No. 5 pick, and now the Saints will have a true No. 1 corner. This pick also helps the Redskins, as Jonathan Allen, Malik Hooker, Haason Reddick, and Reuben Foster are all still on the board.

9:32: The Houston Texans just traded up to No. 12 from No. 25. Is it for a quarterback? Probably. It’s likely going to be Deshaun Watson if they go with a quarterback.

9:46: And a potential Redskins target has come off the board. Haason Reddick goes to the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 13 overall pick. He’ll be a huge playmaker for the team. Still, the Redskins have a shot at landing a high caliber prospect.

9:54: The rival Eagles take Derek Barnett with the No. 14 overall pick. That guarantees the Redskins a chance to land one of the top three prospects left on the board in Allen, Hooker, and Foster.

10:00: Malik Hooker finally comes off the board. The Colts get a steal at No. 15 overall. Now, the Redskins will get a shot at either Jonathan Allen or Reuben Foster. An ideal situation for all!

10:19: Wow. Jonathan Allen is a Redskins. What. A. Steal. For more on the team’s newest member, check out this piece.

10:29: Adoree’ Jackson, a Redskins target, goes to the Titans at No. 18. O.J. Howard finally comes off the board to the Buccaneers at 19. Two more solid values. Watch for a trade on pick 21 as well, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

10:33: An offensive lineman is finally off the board. Garett Bolles goes to the Denver Broncos. We had mocked Bolles to the Broncos in every mock draft, save for our final one, which saw the Seahawks trade ahead of the team to grab him one spot earlier. Bolles is a great fit in Denver and he should help the team a lot.

10:42: It’s hard to believe that Jarrad Davis came off the board before Reuben Foster. Davis will be a great pickup for the Lions, but this NFL Draft is absolutely wild.

10:51: Charles Harris, who was mocked to the Redskins in my final mock, went off the board at No. 22 to Miami. He is an excellent fit there, and was a terrific value for the team. The Giants took sleeper tight end Evan Engram. Their offense is looking scarier by the day.

10:58: In a shocking development, Gareon Conley went to the Raiders No. 24 overall. There’s no denying Conley’s talent, but he was accused of rape earlier in the week. The Raiders must believe that he is innocent. We will see how things play out in the coming weeks for the Ohio State defensive back.

11:03: Jabrill Peppers goes to Cleveland with the No. 25 pick. The Redskins were rumored to be interested in Peppers, but they will now have to change their strategy for Day 2.

11:08: The Falcons traded up with the Seahawks, as Dan Quinn wanted to move up and decided to call up his former team. They ended up taking Takkarist McKinley, and he should help to improve their pass rush thanks to his excellent athleticism. He does have some durability issues though, which could delay his success.

11:16: The Browns just traded back into the first round for what would be their third first round pick. They will take the place of the Packers at No. 29. Could they be targeting Cal quarterback Davis Webb? It’s possible.

11:22: The Cowboys get a solid value with Taco Charlton at No. 28 overall. He is going to be a tough pass rusher to stop, and he could have gone top 20 in this draft.

11:36: The Browns get athletic tight end David Njoku. The Steelers land T.J. Watt. Two more picks to go in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft!

11:43: Reuben Foster is a great value for the 49ers at No. 31 overall. John Lynch has had one of the best days of any GM thus far. Props to the rookie.

11:45: And Ryan Ramczyk goes off the board to the New Orleans Saints to finish off Round 1. The Redskins pick No. 49 overall in round two and should have a shot at some solid players.
