Rumors: Cleveland Browns Trying To Trade For Kirk Cousins
According to reports, the Cleveland Browns are trying to trade for Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.
The 2017 NFL Draft is off to a roaring start. After a couple of top five surprises, things are really starting to heat up around the NFL rumor mills. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cleveland Browns are trying to make a big time move to get a quarterback. That’s right, Kirk Cousins.
The Washington Redskins have been adamant that they will not trade Cousins this offseason, but perhaps the Browns will be able to convince them. It would take a lot more than the No. 12 overall pick to get the Redskins quarterback, but the Browns did also just take Myles Garrett at No. 1 overall. Could he be involved in the trade? That would be the only way that the Browns would realistically have a shot at acquiring Cousins without using future picks.
As it stands, the Redskins still seem extremely unlikely to make a trade. They want a big package in return for Cousins, and Cleveland may not want to meet their demands. However, with Mitchell Trubisky now off the board, nothing is out of play.
This is a breaking story, and we will have more news on the situation as it develops.
UPDATE: Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole took to Twitter to explain that the Redskins would not be trading Cousins:
This is hardly a surprise, and this will likely continue throughout the draft, unless the Redskins get blown away by an offer.
