It’s now or never for Washington Redskins Wide Receiver Josh Doctson.  DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon are gone. He needs to heal up fast.

Josh Doctson’s story has a lot of hope, expectation, and sighs. Last season he only played in two games. To be honest it was more of a sighting, catching two for 66 yards.

However, things are looking better for him. Brian McNally of 106.7 FM The Fan reported last month Doctson was taking part in running and catching drills. Reports suggest he should be ready for training soon. Even better, Nora Princiotti of the Washington Times reported  Redskins head coach Jay Gruden hasn’t wavered in confidence for Doctson:

"“I’ll tell you what, Josh is really working hard man and that’s half the battle. And we fully anticipate him being healthy…And that’s obviously out of our control but he is going to have a major impact on this offense once he gets healthy. And that’s the biggest thing for him, is can you be taking the strides necessary to get healthy, not overworking it but continuing to push himself, which I see him in the weight room all the time working hard.”"

This is Doctson’s moment to shine among the next generation of Redskins receivers.  Jackson’s and Garcon’s departure, while unfortunate, didn’t rock the boat too hard. My concern is he’ll be more of a burden than a benefit.  In his final year with Texas Christian University, Doctson caught 79 for 1,327 yards.  He has the ability to shine if he can get healthy.  Lucky for him, everyone is willing to wait.  Josh Doctson will be a major part of the team’s response to letting star receivers walk.  He was a first-round draft pick, and you want to see justification for that selection on the field. He cannot afford a  second season on the sidelines.
