DeSean Jackson

If Garcon is likely to leave the Redskins, then it seems like DeSean Jackson’s departure is a foregone conclusion. Rumors started up in the middle of the season that the Redskins wide-out would possibly return to the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason now that Chip Kelly was gone. The rampant speculation of where Jackson could end up has not stopped since, but Washington has not been frequently mentioned as a possiblity.

Jackson falls into the same boat as Garcon in terms of reasons why the team would not re-sign him. Frankly, at this stage in his career Jackson is more of a speed receiver that can have a couple of big games each year. He did have some games where he racked up catches, but he is at his best as an explosive option. Simply put, he is no longer a true No. 1 receiver.

As for where Jackson might land, Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline has an idea. He said the following of Jackson’s situation in his Combine report from last Saturday:

"The belief right now is Jackson will end up with the Tampa Bay Bucs, as the combination of weather, a big-armed passer in James Winston and no state tax will make it tough for any other team to match."

Pauline also reported that Jackson is likely to receiver a deal that pays $12 million per year. If that is the case, then the Redskins certainly will not look to retain Jackson. Any pursuit of the speedy veteran would be in vain.
