3. Chris Wormley

For a while, it looked like Chris Wormley would get some first round consideration in the 2017 NFL Draft. The hard-working Michigan defensive lineman had performed well during his senior season and fared well at the Senior Bowl as well. It looked like Wormley could be in play for the No. 17 overall pick, but things have changed recently.

Nothing about the performance of Wormley has been different, but the fact is that some other defensive linemen have been rising in this draft. More athletic players like Wormley’s teammate Taco Charlton have moved up draft boards and that has pushed Wormley down towards second round consideration.

Still, Wormley has great potential for the next level. He figures to fit in very well as a five technique in a 3-4 defense, and would be an excellent fit across from Chris Baker. Though the Redskins are considering pursuing other five-techs in free agency, namely Calais Campbell, Wormley would be a valuable addition as he could be a rotational player until he is ready to start.

If Wormely makes it to the Redskins second round pick, they should not hesitate to take him. At the very least, he will become an above average rotational player that could make an impact on the team in the near future.
