The Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys each got big wins in Week 6. Who is the divisional favorite moving forward?

Heading into the sixth week of the NFL season, the NFC East was as up for grabs as ever. Three of the division’s four teams had a winning record, and it was unclear who would end up winning in the important battle between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles. However, it ended up being that the Redskins defeated the Eagles, and the game really was not all that close.

The Redskins dominated the Eagles, despite the scoreboard saying otherwise. They won the game 27-20, but the two Eagles touchdowns came off of a kick return touchdown, and a horrible pick six by Kirk Cousins. Aside from that, the defense shut the Eagles down.

It is unbelievable how much better the defense has been over the last couple of weeks. Once perceived to be a weakness, the unit has responded to criticism and is now playing significantly better. Joe Barry has lit a fire under his players. They are covering opposing receivers well and their run defense has stepped up. If this continues, the Redskins will challenge for the NFC East crown.

As for the Eagles, they seem to have taken a major step back. The team was without star tackle Lane Johnson for the first time this year, and they looked horrible without him. Carson Wentz had no time to throw and was sacked five times as a result. The rookie has looked good at times, but if he has to deal with too much pressure, he may end up cracking. It seems that the Eagles may have peaked at the beginning of the season.

The biggest result of the week came in the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers were favored to win the game, but the Cowboys convincingly defeat them. At Lambeau Field! The Cowboys have now won five straight games, and they would be undefeated had it not been for their one point loss to the Giants in Week 1. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott are definitely the real deals. I would not expect Tony Romo to start again this season, provided that Prescott stays healthy.

As for the Giants, they put up a win this week as well. They played a decent game against the Ravens, but the big news for them was the performance of Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham had his best game of the year, catching eight passes for 222 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He looked explosive and focused. If he can catch fire, the team will have a chance to contend in the division again.

As of now, I would say that the Cowboys are the division favorites. They are simply playing on another level right now. It could be hard to catch them. Still, all of these teams are very much in play and could end up winning the title as well.
