5 Reasons Robert Griffin III Failed with Redskins
The era of quarterback Robert Griffin III as a Washington Redskin is nearly at an end. Things started out in spectacular fashion in 2012 but in 2016 will end in a messy divorce. The team will either release him or trade him in the coming weeks.
Griffin is due to be paid $16 million once March 9th hits but the Redskins have no intention of paying that amount to him. After suffering a concussion in preseason, Robert Griffin III didn’t play at all in 2015.
He was supplanted as the starting quarterback by Kirk Cousins who went on to have a great season. Griffin recently passed a physical making eligible to be released. If he’d played, gotten injured and failed the physical the Redskins would not have been able to part ways with him.

It’s not that RGIII himself was a failure. He did some good things too in his time in Washington D.C. Like winning Rookie of the Year, and leading the Redskins to an NFC East Championship. However, some things were beyond his control.
Like the scenario in which he came to the team and some of the parties surrounding him failed too. Here are five reasons the Robert Griffin III era failed for him and the Washington Redskins.
