Florida. Jonathan Bullard. 22. player. 10.
Heading into the 2016 NFL Draft, it’s safe to assume the Texans’ top priority is finding themselves a new starting quarterback, especially after the way Brian Hoyer played during the Wild Card round. Unfortunately, at this point in my mock draft, there aren’t any available gunslingers worth the No. 22 overall pick. They could target Connor Cook or Christian Hackenberg in the second round, but they’re too big of reaches at this point.

So instead of reaching on a quarterback, they look to add even more talent to their defensive front. Both defensive end and defensive tackle could work here, but I believe Bullard would provide a great opportunity to upgrade on Jared Crick, who struggled throughout the 2015 campaign.

Bullard is a big, physical defensive end who can certainly excel in the Texans’ 3-4 front. He spent his entire career at Florida dominating offensive lineman, and could continue to do so with Houston. Can you imagine a Texans defensive front that included Bullard, J.J. Watt, (a healthy) Jadaveon Clowney, Vince Wilfork and Whitney Mercilus? That group would certainly help this team stay competitive in the AFC South for years to come.
. Defensive End
