Right now, the Dolphins’ starter under center is Ryan Tannehill. He’s being paid like a franchise passer and shows glimpses of being a great quarterback, but still hasn’t quite earned full trust from team officials. There were rumors cropping up this offseason that he could be on the trading block, which brings into question whether or not they’re planning on sticking with him for the long term.

New head coach Adam Gase is considered a quarterback guru, which could certainly play a big part in Tannehill’s continued development. However, the Dolphins could also decide to see if Gase could work his magic on Griffin, who is a former Pro Bowl quarterback. It’s certainly an interesting situation with lots of possibilities, and one that a desperate Dolphins team could decide is worth the risk.

The Dolphins’ recent backup, Matt Moore, is scheduled for free agency this offseason. Although he’ll likely want to re-sign with Miami, there are a number of opportunities out there that may interest him enough to consider a move.

Griffin will probably be signed for a relatively cheap price, but the cash-strapped Dolphins might find it a bit difficult to fit a luxury signing into the budget. However, if the opportunity arises, you better believe Miami will at least consider handing Griffin a contract.
