Cleveland Browns

Surprise, surprise. The Browns head into the offseason with a new head coach and a need for a new quarterback. The 2015 season was a disaster as expected, and nothing seemed to work out for Cleveland either on or off the field. So what’s the plan for the 2016 campaign, especially when it comes to the situation under center?

Many people assume that Johnny Manziel will be shown the door by the new coaching staff, although there’s a small possibility that he’ll be retained with the hope new coaches can turn his NFL career around. Josh McCown is still under contract until 2017, but there’s no reason to believe he’s seen as a viable starter and may be cut to save some cap space. The Browns are expected to target a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick, which would give them a potential franchise passer.

However, they’ll need a possible starter and decent backup to give the incoming rookie some support. Signing Griffin would give the Browns an experienced No. 2 with starting experience who can step in if the top pick struggles or needs time to adjust. Plus, the Browns love damaged good, so RG3 is the perfect fit.
