Redskins: Four players Trending Up in week five

1. Chris Thompson, RB

The Washington Redskins have been waiting for 2013 fifth round draft pick Chris Thompson to become an asset to their offense but in his first few seasons he’s dealt with injuries and had been unable to stay healthy long enough to make a difference.

He spent his first season on the practice squad and ended up there again in 2014 but late last season Thompson was promoted to the 53 man roster and he flashed his ability out of the backfield as a receiver.

Now that he’s healthy and able to stay in the lineup we are finally seeing more of what he can do and against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, it was Thompson who stepped up and helped the Redskins get their running game jump-started early on with a 43 yard run.

Thompson is doing some good things as the Redskins third down back and has 11 receptions on the season and he also has 93 yards rushing.  He’s adding another dimension to the offense in addition to what Alfred Morris and Matt Jones bring to the table.

And most importantly, Thompson gives opposing defenses something else they need to prepare for out of the Redskins backfield.
