Bashaud Breeland vs DeAngelo Hall

Despite Breeland’s surprising rookie campaign, he goes into 2015 fighting for a starting job with DeAngelo Hall. Hall spent most of 2014 on the IR blowing out his achilles tendon. During the offseason, the Redskins splurged for Chris Culliver and will be installing him at one of the starting CB spots(if Culliver can’t hold on to one of the spots, the defense has bigger problems than Breeland vs Hall). Whomever loses the Breeland vs Hall fight will be the slot CB on sub packages.

Everything else being equal, Breeland should easily win this job. Hall is getting old, is coming off of a major leg injury and Breeland showed a lot during his rookie season. However, Breeland really struggled down the stretch especially when he faced Odell Beckham Jr late in the season. Also, the Skins have a new defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach now. His job is far from assured.

Despite all that, Breeland should be the presumptive starter going into Camp. If Hall is still struggling with his leg injury, then he has no chance to start. If healthy, Hall should be the favorite for the job because of his experience.  Keep an eye on this in the summer: this will be the biggest fight on the team.

Odds of the starter being unseated by week 1: 60%
