Robert Griffin III versus New Orleans Saints 2012-Third Quarter

Griffin completed two passes for first downs off of play action fakes at the start of the second half. After a Morris run, he completed a pass to Davis. A read option run to Helu failed to gain any yards next.

Griffin followed that up with a deep incomplete pass to Robinson in the end zone. Pass interference was called and the Redskins had a first down at the one yard line. Morris ran in his first career touchdown on the next play.

The next drive was stalled quickly but the Saints were called for too many men on the field on Sav Rocca’s punt and the drive continued. Operating with Griffin under center mostly now, Kyle Shanahan ran the ball a lot with Morris. The Redskins kicked another field goal after Griffin’s second incompletion of the drive.

Continuing under center, Griffin had two more completions to finish the quarter. Morris ran three non read option run plays. Five of the nine pass plays were executed after play action fakes and only one of nine run plays was a read option run.

Griffin scored points on 9 pass plays in the third quarter for a 0.89 rating. Griffin did not run the ball in the quarter.
