The Washington Redskins added more depth and experience to their secondary after they traded a 2016 sixth round draft pick for veteran free safety Dashon Goldson. The Tampa Buccaneers will send a seventh round pick to the Redskins in addition to Goldson.

The Redskins needed a free safety and while Dashon Goldson hasn’t played well the past few seasons in Tampa Bay’s cover 2 defense. He stands a chance at improving over his recent performance plying the Redskins 3-4 defense.
The Redskins earlier signed free agent Jeron Johnson, who will be the favorite to come in and start at strong safety next to Goldson in 2015. But the Redskins still need to add more talent at safety.
Goldson’s presence makes the need at safety less dire but if he doesn’t work out there, the Redskins will need more depth to turn to. LW # 1
