Brandon Meriweather
Brandon Meriweather will not be back with the Redskins in 2015. The team has let it be known that they are going in a different direction.
Meriweather had no INTs and only 4 passes defensed in 2014. He did record 3 sacks with 2 coming in week 8 versus Dallas. Meriweather was partially responsible for 6 TD receptions.
week 8 was Meriweather’s statement game of the season
Meriweather missed the first 2 weeks with a suspension. He began his season in week 3 and gave up 3 TDs versus the Eagles. He gave up another TD the following week versus the Giants but did have 13 tackles and 2 passes defensed in the game.
The Cowboy game in week 8 was Meriweather’s statement game of the season. He scored a 1.00 rating against the pass and a 1.33 rating versus the run. His 1.63 rating on blitzes was led by his 2 sacks.
Meriweather didn’t play at the end of the season due to injury and the team wanting to get a look at Phillip Thomas. In his 3 seasons in Washington, he only played in 24 of the 48 games. Even when he was on the field, he did not perform up to what the Redskins expected of him.
