New Washington Redskins GM, Scot McCloughan has some work to do to retool the Redskins defensive backfield. He has 2 young CBs in Bashaud Breeland and David Amerson. Other than that, he has little to work with.
Starting safeties, Ryan Clark and Brandon Meriweather will not be returning to the team. Clark retired from football. Meriweather will be a FA and is not expected to return.
EJ Biggers was the Redskins third CB for most of the season but he is also a FA and it is very doubtful that the Team will re-sign him. DeAngelo Hall tore his achilles tendon…twice. He will return if he recovers from the injury after re-structuring his contract.

The other players that the Redskins have under contract played little or none in 2014. Tracy Porter spent most of the season on the injured list. Akeem Davis was mostly a ST ace. Duke Ihenacho was put on IR early in the season after playing very few snaps.
In preparation for this article, I went back and watched every DB play for the Redskins in weeks 1, 2, 8, 15, 16 and 17. These games were a loss to Houston, a victory over Jacksonville, a victory over Dallas, a loss to the Giants, a victory over the Eagles and a loss to Dallas.
