Andre Roberts, WR
Andre Roberts’ season was as disappointing as was Garcon’s. Roberts was often open and targeted 73 times but only caught 36 of them with 8 drops credited to him. Roberts was not brought to Washington to convert less than 50% of his opportunities.
Roberts has a high cap number for a #3 receiver at $3.75 million. Roberts isn’t likely to be released because the Redskins would only save $750,000 off their cap total if they did so. $750,000 would not buy the Redskins an experienced #3 receiver.
consistent play from the QB position could help Roberts improve
McCloughan would therefore be expected to remain pat with Roberts as Gruden’s third option at receiver. More consistent play from the QB position could help Roberts improve on his lackluster 2014 effort.
Roberts had a 0.79 rating vs the Eagles in week 16. He improved on that the following week vs the Cowboys with a 0.88 rating. He caught only one pass in each game.
