With the signing of an unexpected free agent DeSean Jackson during the off-season , the Washington Redskins seemed to be set at wide receiver. Pierre Garcon led the league in catches in 2013 and the Redskins also signed Andre Roberts as a free agent before the Eagles had cut Jackson. With these 3 players at wide receiver, the Redskins were expected to set records in 2014.

Instead the offense struggled mightily at times to score under rookie HC, Jay Gruden. A revolving door at QB made it hard for any of the receivers to get into a groove with any of the 3 QBs. An early season injury to 2013 rookie star TE, Jordan Reed, only added to the Redskins problems.

the Redskins are due to have a cap hit of almost $23 million due to the contracts of Jackson, Garcon and Roberts

Now entering the 2015 off-season, the Redskins are due to have a cap hit of almost $23 million due to the contracts of Jackson, Garcon and Roberts. That is over 15 % of the expected 2015 NFL salary cap of $140 million. The Redskins new GM, Scot McCloughan, may choose to decrease that number by changing some of the players on the roster.

Currently, the Redskins have Jackson, Garcon, Roberts, Ryan Grant, Jerry Rice Jr., Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen under contract for the 2015 season. WRs Braylon Bell, Colin Lockett and Rashad Ross and TE Chase Dixon are also signed to reserve/futures contracts. Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss and Niles Paul are all due to be free agents.

McCloughan will have to decide what he will do to add depth to or replace any of the roster. He will likely use the draft to supplement what the Redskins have in 2015. Here I will give a breakdown of each of the Redskins receivers including their performances over the final 2 games vs the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
