In 2012 we saw the Washington Redskin record at 3-6 after nine weeks and while the season still had some hope left, one would have surmised that the Redskins wouldn’t have made the playoffs.  But low and behold they went on the seven game winning streak finishing 10-6 and ended up winning the NFC East.

Well looking at the remaining games on the Redskins schedule, the same thing could happen this season.  Now of course nothing is guaranteed and any given Sunday any team can lose, but in week 11 the Redskins will have a very good chance to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home.

In week 12, the Redskins will visit the San Francisco 49ers who at this point in the season appear to be very vulnerable.  And if you believe the ESPN “insiders”, the 49ers may have even more turmoil going on right now than they claim the Redskins do, and their chances at returning to playoffs seem to decrease with each game.

In week 13, the Indianapolis Colts may be the toughest opponent left on the schedule, but the Colts were just blown out by the Steelers in week 8, so even though they are tough to beat at home it’s possible.  In week 14 the Redskins get the St. Louis Rams at home and while the Rams are tough, this is a game the Redskins can win.

In week 15, the Redskins take on the now struggling New York Giants on the road.  The Giant seemed to hit their stride in week 4 when they dominated the Redskins, but now the Giants appear to be in worse shape than the Redskins.  So this is another winnable game.

In week 16, the Redskins will face a Mark Sanchez led Philadelphia Eagles team at home.  The Eagles seem to like Mark Sanchez and think he will do well in their offense, but how well remains to be seen.  The Redskins nearly beat the Eagles on the road in week 3 and they will get another chance at it.

In week 17, the Redskins will face the Dallas Cowboys again and after beating the Cowboys on the road in week 8, they know they can beat them again.  And with the Cowboys on a two game losing streak and injuries starting to take a toll on them, they might end up struggling as the season unfolds.

So the Redskins can run the table, the question is will they?  The Indianapolis Colts will be the toughest game left on paper, but the division games will be tough too.  However, if Robert Griffin III can play at a high level and the defense can play with consistency because that’s what it’s going to take, then it can be done.

We’ve seen the Redskins do it before and if Jay Gruden can get the team playing well in all phases and they come together as a team, then they can do it again.
