How important is the game on Sunday to cementing Peyton Manning’s place as the greatest ever?

"I think it shuts up the doubters or naysayers, and or were any of them to jump on board.  Because if you have watched the last ten years of this man playing this game, you’re only looking for reasons to not call him the greatest.  I mean, what question hasn’t he answered for us? And, I’ve always tried of as of late to put people in this perspective where Peyton Manning is.  When you are asked as the number on overall pick to save a franchise, and you go into that franchise and you have one season where you don’t make the playoffs, or have less than ten wins, wow.  Credit: Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY SportsYou know, not to mention you win a Super Bowl for that organization, and then you go to another organization, whom it’s not like you’re going to an organization has never had a super star at quarterback.  You have a guy who’s won tow Super Bowls at quarterback, and that guy decides he wants you. And in your first season, you don’t have a mediocre season you’re the number team in the AFC.  Those are tough shoes to fill, that’s a huge thing to accomplish.  And right now, no matter what happens in Sunday’s game, the Denver Broncos know next year they’re going to win ten or more games if Peyton Manning is their quarterback.  I don’t know what team you like, but I’d take that.  I’ll take it.  That’s what you sign up for when you get him."

How big do you think the running game will play a factor in the Super Bowl?

"Um, Depending on if Denver can stop the run or not, it could be be extremely huge, and depending on Peyton, uh let’s say his willingness to continue to call run plays it could be huge.  So those are the two factors. Credit: Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY SportsSo he, he decides if there’s six men in the box, um.  Hey that’s Michael Bennett, he’s a defensive end at defensive tackle.  I think I want to run the football at him.  Let’s see if he can, let’s see if my right guard Vasquez can block him.  You know, lets’s see.  You know he can rush the passer, second and six, third and six, let’s see if he wants to play the run today. Where the Denver Broncos, um I don’t know if you watch the NFL Network, um if I was a gambling man listening to Marshawn Lynch yesterday.  You know it’s a pretty big fine when your at media day and you walk of the podium away from people saying I uh, I never talked my way into anything.  But I’m going to be there Sunday, and the Denver Broncos know I’m going to be there Sunday. (laughs) I was like wow, that’s powerful.  That’s pretty powerful.  So, the running game it’s going to either play a huge role, or stopping the running game will play a huge role, but it’s going to have a lot to do with this game."
