3. Shanahan Shuts down RGIII – In week 15 of the season Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan made the controversial decision to shut down quarterback Robert Griffin III for the remainder of the season.  I t was speculated that Shanahan made the move to force owner Daniel Snyder to fire him.  Although Shanahan stated he did it to protect RGIII, and to try to increase the trade value of backup Kirk Cousins.
