Someone has to say it. DeAngelo Hall isn’t getting any younger.

The longtime Redskins’ safety turns 34 later this year. It’s safe to say his Pro Bowl years are behind him. Nevertheless, Hall provides a steady veteran presence in the back end of the defense. Although the light at the end of the tunnel appears to be growing closer, there’s a chance that Hall’s time with the Redskins is far from over.

There’s more than one reason to believe that DeAngelo Hall has a future as a front office figure following his time as a player. Per ESPN’s John Keim, Hall himself feels that he has the qualitiesnecessary to contribute behind a desk, rather than behind the linebacking core.

"“I’m not saying I’m a mastermind or Bill Belichick,” Hall said. “But when you play the game, or you’re asked to do other things, like Doug, you have a little more feel than the guy who has been in the office his whole life. I wish it was the NBA where you could stop and go be a head coach or GM like that. I understand it’s a process, but it’s definitely something I want to get involved in.”"

Hall certainly has the track record for the job. He’s long been regarded as one of the most respected players in the locker room, and he recently made the ultimate team move, taking a pay cut to remain with the burgundy and gold. Once he retires, he’d be a stellar candidate for a front office job, regardless of his interest.

The Redskins conveniently have a vacancy at the general manager position, but they don’t seem to be in a hurry to fill that spot. And Hall still has at least a year or two left in the tank. The job could already be taken when he becomes available. But there’s plenty of positions Hall could fill and work his way up from. His experience could prove valuable.

It’s fun to imagine Hall on the front office. And it’s not an unrealistic theory, either. Like Doug Williams, Hall could follow up his playing career with a role in the war room.
