Quan Martin - Commanders DB

Quan Martin genuinely came into his own as a stellar athlete and player during his senior season at Illinois. He has the experience and ability to play anywhere across the secondary, which makes him an asset to the Washington Commanders.

With Bobby McCain gone, Martin could be a great rotational player for both the safety and cornerback positions. With his athletic ability, he could even add to the special teams as well.

The potential value he does bring is the possibility of taking up that nickel role - something the Commanders love to have on defense under Jack Del Rio. Milo Eifler alluded to this in a tweet.

The most notable player the Commanders had in that nickel position was Landon Collins a few years ago. Once switched, he excelled in that spot and the hope is for Martin to emerge into a similar role. Β

However, he departed from the team after the 2021 season. This leaves that opportunity open potentially to Martin if his transition - which begins at the team's rookie minicamp - goes according to plan.
